Ferion ends when one of two population thresholds is crossed at a weekly leaderboard tick, both gated behind day 500:
Solo win — a single player controls more than 50% of the galaxy's total population.
Alliance win — a single alliance with at least 2 members controls 70% or more of the galaxy's total population.
When either happens, the game ends, every player is notified, and turn processing stops. There is no science victory, no diplomatic victory, no spaceship-to-Alpha-Centauri victory — just be the biggest empire, or the biggest alliance, in the galaxy.
Every week the leaderboard recalculates and adds up the population on every settled planet across every empire — yours, your rivals', and any AI players. Your share is:
your share = your total population ÷ total galactic population
The first player whose share crosses 50% wins. Two important details:
currentDay > 500. That's a deliberate "minimum game length" so early snowballs can't end a game in a few weeks of real time.If an alliance's combined member population reaches 70% of the galaxy total — and the alliance has at least 2 members — the entire alliance wins.
For how to actually build an alliance worth winning with, see Alliances — especially the alliance science bonus, which is most valuable to underdogs and drops to zero at exactly the 50% solo win threshold (by design — once you're close to a solo win, your alliance can't pump more science into you).
You're not "out of the game" when you lose your homeworld. You're only defeated when your total population reaches 0 — meaning you've lost every planet. At that point:
A defeated player who remains in an alliance still counts as one of its members for the 2-member alliance-win minimum — but contributes 0 to the combined population.
| Solo trigger | One player's population > 50% of total galactic population |
| Alliance trigger | One alliance's combined population ≥ 70% of total, with ≥ 2 members |
| Earliest possible win | Day 501 (the leaderboard tick after day 500) |
| Includes AI population | Yes (in both numerator if AI is part of the alliance/leader, and denominator) |
| Includes defeated players' population | No — their 0 is counted as 0 |
| Evaluation order | Alliance first, then solo |
| What happens | Game freezes, leaderboard finalised, all players notified |
